The School Board of the City of Norfolk organized four Advisory Committees (Special Education, Gifted Education, Career and Technical Education and the School Health Advisory Council) to receive valuable input and advisement to support Norfolk Public Schools and the School Board.

Advisory Committees are comprised of members from a cross-section of residents of the City of Norfolk or employees of Norfolk Public Schools or the City of Norfolk. The Board may consider a request to waive the residency requirement on an individual basis.

Individuals interested in serving on an Advisory Committee, go to https://bit.ly/2K4w9n5 to view the full description of “BCF. Advisory Committees to the School Board” to learn more information. For a full description of the Advisory Committees or to complete an online application, click on the Advisory committee link below that you would like to serve on, and the completed application will be reviewed by School Board Members, the Superintendent, and there will be a final School Board vote. Applications may be accepted year-round, and the School Board approves applicants in July and December annually.

Currently, the School Board Advisory Committee (SBAC) Policy “BCF” is under review by the School Board and applications are still being accepted and will be voted upon once the policies/regulations have been approved by the School Board at the October 21, 2020 business meeting. Once approved, the names of applicants will be submitted to the School Board for final approval.
