  • Cell Phone Ban

    On July 9, Governor Glenn Youngkin issued Executive Order 33 to help bring cell phone-free education to Virginia schools. Starting on January 1, 2025, all Virginia Schools will be cell phone-free “from bell-to-bell.” Learn more about the executive order and what it means for Virginia Schools on the Virginia Department of Education’s website.     First Lady of Virginia Suzanne S. Youngkin invites communities across the Commonwealth to join in a fireside chat with award-winning social psychologist, author, and researcher Dr. Jonathan Haidt.On the evening of September 19, 2024, the First Lady and Dr. Haidt will convene a fireside chat to discuss the findings of Haidt’s book The Anxious Generation and how it informs our communities and schools in limiting social media and cell phone use to help restore childhood and play.

     

    This free event will broadcast live at Southside STEM Academy at Campostella, located at 1106 Campostella Road, Norfolk, VA  23523, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is open to all Norfolk Public Schools’ students, families, staff, and communities.
