Department of Facilities Management
The Department of Facilities Management is responsible for custodial service, maintenance and construction for all school building facilities which include five high schools, eight middle schools, 33 elementary schools and six alternative facilities.
In addition to operating and maintaining the facilities, the department provides energy management services, planning and execution of capital improvement projects, and minor renovations, modifications, and alterations to existing facilities. Facilities Management also has the responsibility of grounds maintenance, which is achieved through coordination with the Parks and Urban Forestry team of the City of Norfolk's Department of Recreation, Parks and Open Space. These services are coordinated by NPS Facilities Management's administrative staff.
