    CTEAC is an active advisory that works closely with the school division in support of the college, career, and civic readiness journey of every student. It is an integral part of the direction, assistance, and advocacy of the career and technical education (CTE) program in Norfolk Public Schools.

    CTEAC membership includes approximately twenty-one (21) representatives from business, industry, higher education, workforce investment, labor organizations, parents, teachers, students, and the local community. School personnel involved in CTEAC participate as ex-officio members and include the senior director of career and technical education, the site coordinator of the technical center, and other designated personnel.

    CTEAC membership is open for all to apply without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, or disability. The term for each member is three (3) years. With the recommendation of the nominating committee, and the approval of the Superintendent, members may have the option to serve additional terms as outlined in School Board Regulation BCF-R. Roles and responsibilities for members include, but are not limited to:

    · Providing recommendations to the division on current workforce demands, industry trends, and relevancy of CTE programming and offerings;

    · Assisting with the development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of programming, including the annual CTE local plan;

    · Collaborating with the division in conducting local needs assessments;

    · Serving as a resource and consultant within the area (career cluster) in which the member represents; and

    · Serving as a CTE liaison for the division with business, industries, and the community.

     

    Full CTEAC meetings are held quarterly during the school year. In addition, several activities, events, professional development, and trainings are sponsored by CTEAC in collaboration with the division’s CTE department. These are open to the public and all are welcome.
