• Norfolk Public Schools - School Nutrition Department recognizes that need for students to plan ahead of school meals to meet their dietary needs. For example, a child with diabetes may require help tracking what he or she eats at each meal. To assist students our interactive, online menu includes general information found on the nutrition label and common food allergens.

    How to Find Common Food Allergens in Menu Items:

    Users have the option to check for the common food allergens and menu item that contain these allergens and are easily identified.

    1. To determine which menu items are safe for your child, first begin by opening the NPS Nutrislice menu website at http://nps.nutrislice.com or downloading the NutriSlice App for your phone. 

    2. Choose the school that you would like to view.

    Tip: Type the school’s name in the search bar or select the type of school (i.e. elementary or middle school) to narrow down the school options. Click directly on your child’s school name.

    To save steps in the future, click on the heart icon next to your child’s school to save it to your favorites.

    3. Select the menu type you would like to view.

    4. Click the icon with the three horizontal lines on the right-hand side in blue, as seen circled in red below

  • 5. A box labeled “Filters & Highlights” will pop up. On this screen you can filter the school menu for allergens and special diets. To filter, select each box that applies to you. Once finished click the “X” in the upper right hand corner.  Foods containing the chosen allergens will appear crossed out on the menu. These items should be avoided. If filtering for Special Diets such as vegetarian or gluten-free, items meeting your criteria will be highlighted in yellow.

  • How to find Carbohydrate Counts for Menu Items

    1. To determine which menu items are safe for your child, first begin by opening the NPS Nutrislice menu website at http://nps.nutrislice.com or downloading the NutriSlice App for your phone.

  • 5. This will take you to a new screen showing you the serving size, dietary fiber, and total grams carbohydrate for the menu items served each week.
