Welcome to the Parent Resource Center (PRC)

  • The goal of the PRC is to provide support to parents, professionals, and community members with primary focus on students with disabilities. The unique needs of students with disabilities encourages an increased level of collaboration between school, parents, professionals, and community.

    The PRC is maintained by a Parent Resource Center Educator who is a licensed educator by the state of Virginia. The PRC Educator manages the parent resources offered and serves as an additional liaison between schools and parents.

    The PRC shares up-to-date information and training through meet-ups, workshops, and training sessions for parents, professionals, and community members. The PRC welcomes the opportunity to engage with new community partners!

    The PRC offers: 

    • individualized support for parents of students with disabilities  

    • parent education, workshops, and trainings  

    • a lending library with materials specific to students with disabilities  

    • a monthly newsletter 

    • information and referrals (within the schools and community) 

    • a visual supports lab for developing visual and communication tools for students 

    The PRC believes in empowering parents, professionals, and community members in the success of every child, every day – No Matter What!

    The PRC lending library offers parents, professionals, and community members a valuable collection of resources, including books, DVDs, and brochures in many areas intended to support students with disabilities and other exceptionalities.

    Resources are available for parents, professionals, and community members surrounding topics related to supporting students with disabilities, how to navigate parenthood, post-secondary opportunities, transitions, communication, and more. 

How can I contact the Parent Resource Center?

  • The PRC is open 8-3:30PM Monday-Friday and we are happy to serve parents, professionals, and community members via phone, email, or in-person by appointment. PRC hours are subject to change based on staff facilitating workshops, events, and attending professional development. Please check the PRC calendar for specific information regarding availability.
