Assistive Technology (AT)
Assistive technology can ensure that students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) by allowing access to the general education curriculum and settings, providing opportunities for active participation with same age peers, and facilitating progress toward their educational goals. In addition, AT can significantly impact independence, self-expression, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.
Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT)
Norfolk Public Schools provides Occupational and Physical Therapy services in the educational setting to assist students who are having difficulties accessing their individual education plan. Our team consists of licensed occupational and physical therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants. Each school has a designated OT/PT team to address the needs of our students to assure that they can best access their educational program. Physical and Occupational Therapy services are recommended and referrals are completed as needed during IEP team meetings.
