Norfolk Public Schools Announces Bold Vision to Transform Learning Spaces with New Long-Range Facility Plan Steering Committee

Norfolk, VA – Norfolk Public Schools is launching an ambitious initiative to modernize its educational facilities through the formation of a Long-Range Facility Plan Steering Committee. This forward-thinking effort will create a blueprint for developing state-of-the-art learning environments that better serve today's students and future generations.
The initiative presents strategic opportunities to:

Optimize Resources: Transform the current capacity of 37,000 seats into modern, well-resourced learning spaces for today's enrollment of 27,000 students.

Modernize Facilities: Invest strategically in newer facilities that reflect contemporary educational needs, building upon findings from the 2019 Facility Condition Assessment.
- Shape the Future: Create a visionary, city-wide plan through collaborative community engagement, with the Steering Committee meeting between January and June 2025.
The school division is seeking forward-thinking community members to join the Steering Committee. Candidates should bring innovative perspectives and a commitment to creating equitable, cutting-edge educational environments throughout Norfolk Public Schools.
