The School Board of the City of Norfolk selected the top four candidates out of 24 applicants to be interviewed for the School Board Ward 5 vacancy. The following candidates will be interviewed on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, starting at 3 p.m. at Lake Taylor High School (1384 Kempsville Rd., 23502):

• Ruth Cookson
• Dr. Stephen Jones
• Brian Mackey
• Nichelle Stone

The public is invited to attend the interviews and join the School Board for a public hearing afterwards at 6 p.m. to receive comments on the Ward 5 candidates.
