Quarantine Continuity of Learning Plan FAQs

How long are students required to quarantine?
Symptomatic individuals, vaccinated or unvaccinated, may return 10 days from a positive test with no fever/symptoms for final 24 hours. Vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals, who do not get tested, may return 14 days from exposure with no fever/symptoms for final 24 hours.

How will I be contacted if my student is exposed to COVID-19 while at school?
Notifications will be made to specific individuals identified through contact tracing and will be made by staff from the NPS Department of Student Wellness and/or the school nurse.

What if some students in my child’s classroom have been told to quarantine, but my child was not?
If you were not instructed by the school nurse or staff to quarantine your child(ren), please send them to school as usual. If you were not instructed to quarantine your child was not significantly exposed.

Can my child participate in clubs and sports while under quarantine?
No. Students who are required to quarantine are not allowed to attend any school events or participate in any extracurricular activities during their quarantine period.

What learning supports will my student have if quarantined?
During the period of quarantine, students will have access to live tutoring sessions via Zoom which are in addition to any live instructional support provided by the teacher or designee. What is FEV Tutor?
Norfolk Public Schools provides free, school-sponsored, one-to-one online tutoring and homework help through FEV Tutor.
NPS students in grades 3 through 12 can receive tutoring in core subjects – math, science, social studies and English language arts. Tutoring sessions can be scheduled or on-demand for last-minute homework help and coursework support.
Since this is a virtual service, tutoring can be accessed at anytime and anywhere with a computer/device, Internet connection, username, and password.
