Spirit Week was a success!! BTW students and staff were wearing wild prints and unmatched socks on Wacky Tacky Monday. Bookers reached back into their closets to show off their 70's, 80's or 90’s top fashions for Throwback Tuesday. There was lots of pink clothes and even hair on Wednesday to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Thursday the halls were full of characters from all eras. And the BTW halls were all dressed up too with spirt decoratoins. Friday was the best because we showed off our BTW Spirit. The Homecoming Pep Rally was lively and exciting. Always great to hear and see the Marching Bookers, cheerleaders, dancers, majorettes, flag girls and of course all the homecoming court nominees and more. Another excellent Homecoming Parade had the crowd cheering. The football game against the Woodrow Wilson Presidents was a shutout. The Mighty Bookers won 63-0. Go Mighty Bookers!

Principal's Corner

  • Dr. Stallings

    Greetings to the Booker Family,

Welcome.  I am excited about the things we have planned for our students and teachers.  During the past two school years, we identified Literacy as our instructional focus throughout the building.  The faculty and staff implemented three instructional strategies to improve the reading and writing skills of our students.  We will continue with this focus as we promote the “Theory of Action” into our daily instructional practices.  It is our goal to continually increase student achievement and improve student success; the focus on literacy coupled with the “Theory of Action” will support the engagement of students reading, writing, and critical thinking across all content areas to develop and enhance literacy skills necessary for academic growth.  Our teachers have made the commitment to implement some form of literacy in every class, every day, for every child.

This year we will also focus on student voice, continuing with the Principal’s Advisory for students and this year we have Student Ambassadors, both of whom will meet with me on a monthly basis to discuss issues, concerns, and suggestions for our student body.  I encourage all of our Bookers to get engaged and involved with extracurricular activities, clubs and organizations, and athletic teams to increase the sense of belonging.

Students and Leadership matter at Booker T. Washington, and it is our goal to promote both through student voice and student engagement.  An engaged student is an involved student.  Thank you for your continued support.  Let’s Go Bookers!!!!!!!
