    Norfolk Public Schools: Inclement Weather Instructional Plan

    Synchronous remote learning days for elementary schools K-8 ensure that students continue to receive quality instruction during emergency closures. This is a top priority for Norfolk Public Schools.

     

    The guidelines below outline the expectations and procedures for both asynchronous and synchronous remote learning days.

     

    Days 1-3: Asynchronous Remote Learning Day

    • Assignments will be posted on Canvas daily.
    • One hour of live office hours via Zoom, per class.
    • Log into Canvas to access learning materials.
    • Submit classwork by 3:00 PM for attendance purposes.

     

    Day 4 and Beyond: Synchronous Remote Learning Day(s)

    • Preschool/Elementary Teachers will require students to have cameras on, keep cameras on, and actively participate to be marked present.
    • Grades Pk-5 conduct 15-30 minutes of direct instruction per content area (includes morning meetings and small group check-in).

    •  Keep Chromebook/device charged.

    • Follow the daily schedule and attend classes on time.
    • Submit all assignments.
