Hello Azalea Gardens Middle School students, parents, and community stakeholders!

I am Justin Smith, and I am incredibly excited and humbled to serve as the Assistant Principal here at AGMS. I look forward to partnering with Dr. Hinton and the staff to continue advocating for and providing all students with an educational experience that celebrates their diversity and values.

I have proudly served as an educator in Norfolk Public Schools for the past ten years. Prior to joining AGMS, I was the Dean of Students at Blair Middle School. Before that, I worked as a Teacher Assistant for Health/P.E. at Ingleside Elementary, taught U.S. History at Norview Middle, and African American Seminar/Freshman Leadership Development at Norview High.

As a proud product of Norfolk Public Schools and a graduate of Norview High, I later earned my Bachelor of Arts in History from Miles College and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Regent University.

I am truly looking forward to learning and growing with all of you throughout this school year. Always remember, "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
