SOL Writing Test Schedule

Norfolk Public Schools’ district SOL test window is March 3-14.  The SOL tests are used to measure achievement of the Virginia Standards of Learning.  The SOL Writing test is administered online. If you have any questions about your child’s participation in SOL testing, please contact your child’s school.

Norfolk Public Schools is considering moving to a Hybrid 4x4 Schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. A citywide information session was held on December 12th, at Lake Taylor High School.  Click here to view the presentation.

Each high school is hosting their own information session in case you missed the division wide information session. Lake Taylor High School will hold an information session on Tuesday, January 7th, at 5:00pm. This session would primarily be for rising 9th-12th grade students and parents for the 2025-2026 school year.

What is a 4x4 Hybrid Schedule?

A Hybrid 4x4 Block Scheduling Model combines aspects of a traditional 4x4 semester block schedule with a year-long A/B day schedule to create a flexible learning environment that balances in-depth study with continuous course engagement. This model is designed to enhance learning by allowing select courses to meet every day in the span of one semester, while other courses may meet every other day for an entire year based on instructional and/or student needs.
