School Counselors are visiting all 9th graders in their English classes the week of September 17. Please review the handout students received to guide them to graduation. What All Freshmen Should Know
BLAST offers students a unique opportunity to explore their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields through immersive experiences and career exploration. This free program allows selected students to spend 3 days and nights at either ODU, RU, UVA, VT, or W&M. Led by university faculty, students engage in hands-on STEM activities, attend demonstrations, tours, and guest speaker sessions. The BLAST application window closes Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Virginia Tech Engineering: CEED operates the Virginia Tech engineering living learning communities, Galileo and Hypatia, which house approximately 650 freshman engineering students. Service, including K-12 outreach, is part of the mission of the community. Virginia Tech also has many engineering-related student organizations that are interested in working with K-12 students. Options are listed below.
o VT student informational panels (college in general, engineering, specific engineering majors)
o Tutoring/Mentoring
o Hands on activities
o Campus visits
Community Service Log: Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. Students should keep a record of their volunteer hours with this Granby Service Log and our new Google Form
