Azalea Gardens Middle School (AGMS) begins the 2025-2026 school year with our accreditation status from VDOE still pending, with the anticipated release now expected in mid-September. While we wait for the official designation, our mission and focus remain unchanged.  At the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year, we achieved full accreditation for the first time since the 2011-2012 SOL results. Our consistency with our school focus "Soaring to Success by Strengthening Tier 1 Instruction Through Literacy" gave us the foundation for that success.

Our foundation of “Soaring to Success by Strengthening Tier 1 Instruction Through Literacy” positioned us for growth, and this year we build on that by Driving Student Success from Vision to Victory. What we teach, how we teach, how we assess, and the learning environment we create all matter, and they remain the keys to advancing student achievement.

As we move into this new year, we will ensure our lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments stay fully aligned to the written, taught, and tested curriculum, and that we provide multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery of the content.

Regardless of the official label, our vision is clear, and our victory will be measured in the success of every student we serve.

Our instructional focus "Soaring to Success by Strengthening Tier 1 Instruction through Literacy" continues to guide our work in increasing student academic outcomes. Students' need for consistent, high-quality reading and writing is crucial to demonstrating mastery of learning objectives. Therefore, literacy is the gateway for students to acquire knowledge across all subjects, allowing them to grasp complex concepts, explore diverse perspectives, and engage critically with the curriculum. Literacy skills foster improved written and oral communication, enabling students to express their ideas articulately and engage in meaningful classroom discussions.
