Mission

  • The Medical and Health Specialties Program Mission

The goal of the Medical & Health Specialties Program is to provide an academic foundation for a career in healthcare; this foundation is laid through a tailored curriculum, unique experiences with both practitioners and related professionals, and an integrated partnership with Eastern Virginia Medical School, where students receive consistent unique lab experience in a professional setting. These program attributes, along with a prescribed community service regimen, impart the academic, time-management, and interpersonal skills required to successfully navigate a prospective career in healthcare. Simultaneously, these activities should increase opportunity and access to STEM & healthcare careers for the diverse population served by NPS.

*This mission was developed by the MHSP advisory board.
