NACAC Virtual College Fair Sunday, 8/29 1-6 PM ET
NACAC (National Association of College Admission Counseling) is hosting the first in a series of Virtual Fairs tomorrow and this is a great way for your student to connect with a school without leaving home. These are FREE and you can learn more about it and register here -
What to know about the NACAC fairs:
The fair will have 300+ colleges, 933 live sessions (each fair will have different colleges participating)
Search by college name, state, major, size of school and more.
PLUS, your teen can schedule a one-on-one meeting with a college admission rep by going to the college's profile page and click on the "Schedule a Meeting" button to choose a date and time. They can also send chat messages to any college's admission office by clicking the "Chat" button. These are very efficient ways to demonstrate interest to a college and are open to all students, anywhere.
Parents and students are welcome to register. There are different sign-ups for parents and students from this one page. https://bit.ly/38hE0u8
Here is the list of all of the upcoming fairs. Note there are two for students who live in the northeast and midwest. Colleges that attend want to recruit students from those states. There is also a fair for the arts and STEM majors.
Karma Johnson, a rising senior at Maury, is the newly elected Student Representative for the school board of Norfolk and is ready to make her mark! This aspiring artist, fashion icon, and philanthropist is not your average student! She currently attends the Governors School for the Arts and wants to use her art to make important statements just like platinum music star Pharrell Williams, one of her biggest inspirations.
Her goal as school board representative is to make sure students' concerns get heard and sure they feel that they matter. She also would like Norfolk Public Schools to invest more in the arts, promote mental health awareness amongst students, and encourage attending college after high school.
She is currently interested in programs at Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, Columbia University in the City of New York, and New York University. She acknowledges that her interests are always subject to change.
Karma writes, "Wherever I go, I want to feel welcomed and appreciated for the original ideas I will surely bring to the table. I have always wanted to change the world, and this honor of being selected feels like one of many big first steps that I’m ready to take."
Congratulations on your outstanding accomplishment! Your Maury family is so proud of you!
