  •  Virginia Department PALS and VKRP Testing Information

The Virginia Department of Education has determined that two assessments must be administered to students in Virginia during the fall of the 2020 —21 school year. The assessments must be administered regardless of whether the local school division is operating on a 100% virtual status, a blended model, or if students have returned to school for face-to-face instruction. The two assessments to be administered are the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) test administered to all kindergarten students and the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) administered to all PreK -- Grade 3 students. The VKRP and PALS — PK must be administered in-person while the PALS can be administered in person to some students and remotely to others. Testing dates, October 12-November 6, 2020.
