Mrs. Letisha Lawrence, Principal

Mrs. Letisha Lawrence, a proud military child and spouse, is excited to join the Northside Middle School Family. Mrs. Lawrence has served as an assistant principal, dean of students, department chair for History/Social Science, team leader and teacher at the middle and high school levels within Norfolk Public Schools. Mrs. Lawrence is passionate about encouraging civic participation and supporting the social, emotional, and academic success of all children. Educating the whole child.
 
Mrs. Lawrence earned her Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina Central University, Masters Degree in School Administration and Supervision and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Education Specialist/School Administration from Cambridge College.

Mr. Robert Bailey, Assistant Principal

Mr. Rob Bailey is entering his 11th year of service in Norfolk Public Schools.  Prior to serving as the Assistant Principal at Northside he served as a Dean of Students, Team Leader, PBIS Coach, and Health and Physical Education Teacher.   Mr. Bailey believes that education is essential to equal opportunity and must provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be productive citizens.  It is his goal to develop purposeful relationships with students, staff, and the community.  

Mr. Bailey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership and Administration from Old Dominion University.

Mrs. Shayna D. Hart, Dean of Students

Shayna Hart is a proud product of Norfolk Public Schools.  She attended Mary Calcott Elementary, Northside Middle School, and is a graduate of Granby High School.  After high school, she attended Randolph-Macon College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in History with minors in writing and philosophy.  She later attended Old Dominion University, where she received her Masters in Educational Leadership.  Mrs. Hart began teaching at Northside in 2004 and remained in the classroom until 2015, when she was promoted to Dean of Students.    She currrently serves as Dean to all of Northside's 6th graders and to our 8th graders who have the last names beginning with A-J.

Mrs. Angela Grimsley, Dean of Students

Mrs. Angela Grimsley is a new Dean of Students at Northside Middle School.  She is an alumna of North Carolina A&T State University, Norfolk State University and Regent University.  She has taught DRED, Health and Physical Education for 23 years and she has experience coaching several sports.  She has worked in the education realm in North Carolina, Georgia and for Norfolk Public Schools.

Mrs. Grimsley is passionate about supporting and helping students achieve their absolute best. She is eager to motivate and inspire students to succeed and stay in school. She is also committed to building relationships and partnerships that promote a culture that will ensure that ALL reach their full potential.
