SOL:
To help you prepare for upcoming unit and SOL assessments, visit this website. You will find released tests in math, science, history, and English. While these practice tests don't have the "technology enhanced items" (drag and drop, multiple answers), they remain an effective study tool. Set a goal of one test in each subject area per week. The site is user-friendly, so students will be able to find tests relating to their courses with ease. Record your scores (% and number correct first attempt) to share with your teachers.
English:
Visit the following link to review the types of writing prompts that students encounter in different contexts (college & career applications, scholarship applications, college placement exams, etc). Once a week, complete prewriting (T chart & web) for any three. Then, for one of those, compose a full page multi-paragraph response.
Short Stories:
Visit the following link to find a variety of short stories. Choose two per week to read. While reading, create lists of questions, inferences, connections, and themes. For one of those stories, compose a page response explaining the importance of a theme to readers today.
