It is my honor and joy to serve as the principal of W.H. Taylor Elementary, a vibrant and diverse school community within Norfolk Public Schools. With over 27 years of experience in education—all of them dedicated to the children of Norfolk—I remain as passionate today as I was when I began my career.

My journey in Norfolk Public Schools began right here at Taylor in 1997 as a Kindergarten Teacher, and later as the Communication Skills Specialist. I was part of the dynamic teaching team that helped transition our students from the original historic building into the modern facility we now call home. It’s a full-circle moment to lead the school where it all began.

Throughout my career, I have served as a Classroom Teacher, Reading Specialist, Teacher Specialist, and Assistant Principal. These roles have given me the incredible opportunity to work with educators, students, and families across our great city. Each experience has shaped my vision and commitment to student success.

Our talented team of educators is dedicated to encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration—preparing every student to be a confident and responsible learner in the 21st century.

As a mother of two and the proud wife of a Navy veteran of 30 years, I deeply understand the value of strong partnerships between home and school. At Taylor, we are committed to maintaining open, consistent communication and fostering meaningful family engagement. We know that when families and educators work together, our children flourish.

Welcome to W.H. Taylor Elementary School!  I am Donna Clark, School Office Manager. 

I have been dedicated to the W.H. Taylor community for over 23 years.  Within those 23 years, I have been a Paraprofessional in the classroom, Student Data Specialist, and was recently promoted to School Office Manager.  I earned my Associates Degree from Tidewater Community College with honors in 2021 to help me advance within Norfolk Public Schools.  Over the years, I have built a strong foundation through relationships within the community which has helped me to serve with a tremendous amount of W.H. Taylor pride throughout the years.

As School Office Manager, I am committed to establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with our students, faculty, and families.  My goal is to always ensure I am providing all stakeholders with the highest quality of customer service. I’m always reminded of a quote by Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”  With this in mind, I hope you always feel welcomed and supported at W.H. Taylor Elementary.
