Ms. Watson, a native of Ohio and a Cleveland sports fan is excited to join the Academy for Discovery at Lakewood family.  Ms. Watson earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio) in Biology with a minor in Management.  In 2005, Ms. Watson moved from Ohio to Virginia to begin her education career.  Ms. Watson has worked for Norfolk Public Schools for over 10 years, all at Norview High School.  Beginning in the classroom, Ms. Watson has taught Biology and Environmental Science while coaching both Cross Country and Softball.  Ms. Watson earned her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett University in 2009, National Board Certification in 2011 and her Educational Specialist Degree in Supervision and Administration from George Washington University in 2015.  From 2015-2020, Ms. Watson served as an Assistant Principal at Norview High School.  

Ms. Lewis returned to Academy for Discovery at Lakewood (ADL) after serving one year as an Assistant Principal at Burbank Elementary School in Hampton, VA.  Before becoming an Assistant Principal, she was a 5th grade teacher at ADL for three years.  Ms. Lewis Smith was also ADL's first Teacher of the Year during the 2015-2016 School Year. 

Ms. Lewis had an extensive career working for Norfolk Public Schools prior to coming to ADL.  She served as a 5th grade teacher at Little Creek Elementary, 3rd & 4th grade teacher at Campostella Elementary, a History Teacher Specialist for the school district, and an office manager at Little Creek Elementary and a secretary at W.H. Taylor. She earned a Psychology degree from Norfolk State University with an endorsement in Elementary Education/PK-6. She also has a post-graduate degree from The George Washington University in Educational Leadership and Supervision.

Ms. Lewis is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Norfolk, of which her father serves as the pastor.  Most of all and the best part of her life is loving her beautiful daughter.
