Dr. Dorie Banks

Dr. Dorie Banks is celebrating over 20 years in education with 10 years of service with Norfolk Public Schools. She has served as a classroom teacher, gifted resource teacher, assistant principal, senior coordinator in central office, and in July, 2017, became the proud Principal of the Academy of International Studies at Rosemont. Dr. Banks feels truly blessed to be part of such a great group of educators and staff members.

She earned a B.S. Degree in Marketing from Hampton University; a M.A Degree in Education from Hampton University, completed graduate studies in School Administration from the School of Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia; and earned her endorsement in Gifted Education from University of Georgia.

The Center for Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary named Dr. Banks the 2014 recipient of the Center’s Award for Leadership and Program Development and Support for Gifted Learners. She is a passionate advocate for all children, but gifted and high-ability learners have a special place in her heart.

Dr. Banks comes from a large family and enjoys spending special occasions with family and friends.
