Fire Fighting (900 hours) this is a two-year program where students will become familiar with the procedures, equipment, and technologies used by fire departments. Students will learn to fight fires and control the outbreak of fire. Instruction includes Fire Department Organization; Use of various types of equipment such as Extinguishers, Pumps, Hoses, Ropes, Ladders, Hydrants and StandPipe and Sprinkler Systems; Methods of Entry and Rescue; Salvage Practices and Equipment; and Fire and Arson Inspection and Investigation Techniques; Students will focus on the roles and responsibilities of Emergency Rescue Workers, Basic Medical Terminology and Health Care Skills that include care formusculoskeletal injuries, treatment for shock, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, medical/trauma patient assessment and related anatomy, physiology and disease knowledge. Students in this program actively participate in the SkillsUSA CTSO.
POSSIBLE CAREER PATHWAYS: Fire Inspector, Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Dispatcher, Paramedic Hazardous Material Responder, and/or Medical Transport
