Ms. Morris is an educator with 17 years of experience.  She began her teaching career as a first-grade teacher with Norfolk Public Schools at Jacox Elementary, later serving as a literacy teacher.  She has also worked abroad as a teacher and curriculum specialist in both the public and private school sector.  Upon returning to Norfolk Public Schools, Ms. Morris worked as a reading specialist at Bay View Elementary until her appointment as Assistant Principal during the 2018-2019 school year.  Education has allowed her the opportunity to travel, see the world and learn from other cultures and she is passionate about helping others achieve those same opportunities plus many more through education.

Hello Dolphins and welcome to the 24-25 school year! I am Mrs. Murphey, the Proud Principal of Ocean View Elementary School. I started my teaching career right here at OV 28 years ago and spent the next 22 years serving the students and families of this community as a classroom teacher, science resource teacher, and Title 1 Teacher. I became an Assistant Principal in 2019 where I had the pleasure of working at both BayView Elementary and most recently, Lake Taylor School the last 4 years.

I am honored to return to my roots and bring my educational journey full circle this year as I become a Dolphin once again. My belief in the power of educating the whole child; academically, emotionally, socially, and physically, helps them reach their full potential. Ocean View has been a cornerstone of the community where generations have depended on the amazing staff each year to do just that, and under my leadership, we will continue to provide quality instruction in a safe and nurturing environment.
