Promotion Requirements
Students will be classified as 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders on the basis of earning the required number of academic and verified credits for each grade level. Academic credit is earned on the basis of achieving and/or exceeding course standards.
Grade 9: To be classified as a ninth grader, a student must pass (achieve or exceed grade level standards) in five (5) 8th grade subjects of 36 week duration. Four of these five subjects must include English, mathematics, science, and history/social science.
Grade 10: To be classified as a tenth grader a student must earn at least five (5) course credits at the end of the 9th grade.
Grade 11: To be classified as an eleventh grader a student must earn at least ten (10) course credits at the end of 10th Grade, which include
English (2) Credits

Grade 12: To be classified as a twelfth grader a student must have earned at least fifteen (15) course credits at the end of the 11th grade that include
English (3) Credits
Math (2) Credits
Students must also be able to compete the requirements for graduation by the following June.
Verified Unit of Credit: A verified unit of credit for graduation is based on a minimum of 140 clock hours of instruction, successful completion of the requirements of the course, and the achievement by the student of a passing score on the end-of-course SOL test for that course or additional tests.
