Ms. Sallie T. Cooke, Site Coordinator

Ms. Cooke has over 30 years of educational experience with Norfolk Public Schools.     She has been the Site Coordinator at Open Campus since 2017.   Her career with NPS started in October, 1989, as a math teacher.  Ms. Cooke taught at Norview High School, Azalea Gardens Middle School, Coronado Alternative School, Granby High School, Ruffner Academy Middle School, and Booker T. Washington High School.  She served as a math department chair at Ruffner and Booker T. In 2011, she was promoted to assistant principal at Booker T. Washington High School.  Ms. Cooke worked at Granby High School as an assistant principal too.  After four years in this role, she was promoted to principal of Ruffner Academy Middle School.

Ms. Cooke, a native of North Carolina, received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Elizabeth City State University.  She received her Masters of Science degree in Education from Old Dominion University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College.

She is the proud parent of her beautiful daughter, Alease Cooke, a Booker T. graduate.

It is a passion for Ms. Cooke to help students to be the best they can be.  She uses this opportunity at Open Campus to make a huge impact on the lives of struggling students.   It is disappointing to even think about students dropping out of school.  She and her staff at Open Campus are committed to providing a meaningful experience for the students as they use the second chance opportunity at Open Campus to turn things around.

Ms. Cooke has a lot of energy left and will continue to work to inspire students to do great things despite their situation and circumstances.
