Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year at Coleman Place Elementary School. The past few years have been extremely challenging; however, our students have continued to grow! Coleman Place remains Fully Accredited, and we have an exciting and engaging school year planned. All our faculty and staff will work diligently to meet the needs of all our students! We look forward to working with you and your child in making Coleman Place a great learning environment.
Coleman Place Elementary School’s Vision is, “To develop a love of learning in students who can solve problems and overcome challenges while contributing to the community.” At Coleman Place, we believe education is the key to success and all students are unique and have great potential. Our goal is to create independent critical thinkers.
Coleman Place Elementary School’s Mission is, “encourage all students to maximize their academic potential, develop skills for lifelong learning, and are successful contributors to a global society.”
Coleman Place Elementary School’s Instructional Focus is, “The Coleman Place community will work collaboratively to ensure that all scholars show measurable growth in comprehension and effective use of vocabulary across all content areas as measured by formative and summative assessments.”
Coleman Place Elementary School participates in activities authorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. Our goals at Coleman Place Elementary School are to:
1) Provide all our students with 21st century skills through meaningful and rigorous experiences.
2) Ensure that all students perform at or above grade level.
3) Exceed local, state, national, and international performance standards.
4) Provide all our students with access to meaningful college and career opportunities upon graduation.
This year, we will continue to focus on high student academic achievement. We are always available to assist you if you have any questions regarding your child’s performance in school.
Attached, in this handbook, is general information pertaining to Coleman Place Elementary School. Please refer to this handbook during the 2024-2025 school year and use this handbook as a resource in communicating with your child’s teacher. You may also visit Norfolk Public Schools website at www.npsk12.com more information. If you need to contact the Main Office, please call (757)852-4641 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Please remember Student School Hours are 8:55 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. In the mornings, we will open our doors at 8:40 a.m. If we have inclement weather in the morning, students will come into the building when they arrive and will line up in the hallway to stay out of rain or stormy weather. Students are not permitted to arrive at school earlier than 8:30 a.m. as no one is on duty before this time to supervise and monitor students.
