Ms. Deena Johnson Copeland became principal of Camp Allen Elementary School in November 2011. Prior to joining the Dragons at C.A.E.S, Ms. Johnson Copeland had the privilege of serving as an elementary school assistant principal, a district content teacher specialist, a high school science department chairperson, and a high school math and science teacher. She finds extreme joy in leading her faculty and staff towards greater levels of pedagogical understandings and helping students realize their academic potential.

Ms. Johnson Copeland holds the pursuit and acquisition of education in high regard and considers herself a life-long learner. She has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemistry and Educational Leadership from Norfolk State University (Norfolk, VA), The College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, VA) and The George Washington University (District of Columbia).

Away from the hallways and classrooms of Camp Allen Elementary School, Ms. Johnson Copeland enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, going to sporting events, listening to music, and traveling.
