This is my 30^th year as an educator and 20^th year as a Principal.  I would like to welcome everyone back to another great year of learning.  We will continue to keep student achievement as our top priority and meet every child where they are to move them forward. 

Parents are valuable partners, and we encourage our parents to become volunteers, consult with our staff and participate on all the great activities that we have planned this school year. Further, we invite you to become aware of what our curriculum has to offer, and the resources used to educate your children. We realize that an optimum elementary school education is essential preparation to student’s long-term success. Hello, Oceanair Elementary School community!

My name is Jason Koonce, and I am excited about the 2023-2024 school year.  This will be my 18^th year as an educator in Norfolk Public Schools.  I have been at Oceanair Elementary for 8 years; first as a Mathematics Specialist and then the last three years as an Assistant Principal. 

I am just as excited about this year as I have been every year at Oceanair Elementary.  I look forward to another year of growth and success while supporting students, staff, and the community in achieving academic excellence.
