Greetings, Dear PBY Knights Students and Parents,

HAPPY NEW 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR! I am excited to begin another amazing year as your Instructional Leader and Principal of P. B. Young, Sr. Elementary School. As we continue our journey of developing competent, confident, and caring students through challenging and exciting instructional programs and activities, we look forward to including you as parents and guardians in our journey towards academic excellence for all students, No Matter What!

This school year brings new teachers and staff to our PBY Knights family, who you will officially be introduced to at our PBY Open House event in September. As we embark on the new school year, teachers will continue to incorporate technology into their daily instruction as well as small group instruction to meet students’ individual needs.

Parents and Guardians, please remember that PBY’s scholars continue to wear uniforms, dark purple or golden rod Polo style shirts and khaki bottoms. Sneakers are required every day to ensure students are safe from injury during recess and physical education classes. Students are encouraged to bring light-weight jackets and/or sweaters in their backpacks, in case they get cold easily.

The NPS School Board has set district-wide goals for all schools. This year’s CONTINUING THE DRIVE for FIVE, NO MATTER WHAT initiative continues to outline five district-wide goals designed to ensure excellence and equity in education for all NPS students. As a part of the CONTINUING THE DRIVE For FIVE, NO MATTER WHAT initiatives, we will continue our school’s goal of building fluent student readers throughout all content areas. To fully implement this goal, we must partner with parents to reinforce the fourteen point two (14.2) minutes of nightly reading at home. Parents, YOU are an important partner, and your participation in your child’s education is vital to their academic development and success. We continue to focus on steady growth in all areas with 100% accuracy as our future goal for all students on all assessments. NO MATTER WHAT, we are here to serve our children with what they so deserve, which is a high-quality educational experience at PBY!

We are excited about embarking on this new school year, and we look forward to seeing all parents and guardians at Open House on September 21, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM!
