On April 16 & 17, 2021, CTE students from various NPS high schools competed as team "GCC-CyberBoys" in ODU's Virtual CyberOps Competition. As the only high school team to place amongst colleges and universities, the GCC-CyberBoys placed 3rd out of eight teams in the "Capture the Flag" event, hosted by Virginia Cyber Range. 

 

Each of the students participates in the NORSTAR program at Norfolk Techincal Center. Those students and their respective home schools are:

 

Devon Atkins - 10th grade, Norview HS 

Jack DiBari - 11th grade, Maury HS

Puneeth Bheesetty - 10th grade, Granby HS

 

When asked about their competition experience, the team provided the following feedback:

Puneeth said "They practiced a lot.  It was one of the best experiences I had as it was all realistic problems."

Jack said, "There were different options and categories."

Devon said, "I learned more about Python, Linux, and other programming languages."

 

The team is looking forward to next year's competition. Job well done!
