AUTOMATED ATTENDANCE MESSAGES ON DAILY ATTENDANCE

Automated Attendance Messages on Daily Attendance

The district changed procedures for automated messages notifying parents via phone call and email for attendance. In the past, automated phone calls and emails would only go out after 4:00pm. The new process will alert parents of "period" or bell attendance. Blackboard connect will now pick up any absence up to 11:00am, and then again at 4:00pm.

Please keep in mind, that this is not a perfect system and is still reliant on user input. For example, if a student comes to school late from a dentist appointment at 10:30am, a secretary will have to manually enter the excused absences for the first two bells. A teacher may have already marked a student as absent, and the 11:00am call will pick those up as absences. Another example may be that if a substitute is covering a class or classes are split, attendance may not be submitted until the end of the day. Field trips or school sponsored events may not be entered into the system until after phone calls and emails have been sent.

If you have concerns about attendance, we ask that you call Mr. Blue in the main office at 757-628-3344 or email him at sblue035@nps.k12.va.us

We appreciate your patience.

Thank you.
