VSBA and NPS honors Norfolk’s School Board

The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) has designated February as School Board Appreciation Month. This year’s theme, Leading for Success, reflects the top priority of local school board members as they advocate for public education with local, state, and federal leaders on behalf of all students. NPS recognizes the commitment of our school board members and their role in supporting Norfolk’s students, parents, and the community.

A special “thank you” goes to School Board Student Representative Jaelin Mitchell, a Booker T. Washington High School senior, who is the voice for NPS students as he serves on the School Board this school year.

The week of Feb. 18-22 is VSBA School Board Clerk Appreciation Week with the goal of building awareness of the role school board clerks play in assisting school board members, superintendents, and our local schools. NPS’ School Board Clerk is Tiajuana Jackson.

Watch NPS Now on WNPS Ch. 47 on Monday, Feb. 11 to see School Board Chair Dr. Noëlle Gabriel and School Board member Lauren Campsen in honor of this month’s recognition.
