Orchestra student at Ruffner Academy was awarded a new violin
Nathaniel “Nate” Scott, an eighth grade Orchestra student at Ruffner Academy, was awarded a new violin over the weekend from the Lang Foundation. Nate’s teacher, Tyler Bage, gave a heartfelt speech illustrating why Nate deserved the honor. The presentation took place during the intermission of the "Pieces of a Dream" concert held at the Attucks Theater in Norfolk on Saturday night. The crowd attending the sold out concert gave a standing ovation for Mr. Bage’s speech, and Nate's mom and sister were also in attendance to help celebrate the special night. Jay Lang started the Lang Foundation in honor of his father, and has granted quite a few Norfolk Public Schools’ students with their own instruments over the past few years.
