Tufts University and Norfolk Public Schools Grant Partnership
It is all hands on deck for Dr. Julie Dashiell’s first grade class at Camp Allen Elementary School when the students are coding, testing, and debugging their KIBO robots. Camp Allen is one of eight schools within Norfolk Public Schools that has been part of a successful pilot study with Tufts University. The study now includes all 32 NPS elementary schools.
Tufts University, in partnership with NPS, submitted an Education and Innovation Research (EIR) grant proposal, which was successfully awarded in a highly rigorous, nationwide grant competition. Building a K-2 field-tested curriculum embedding computer science education inside the early childhood curriculum is the focal point of the EIR grant.
