NPS Dedicates Day to Support School Opening Efforts

NPS Dedicates Day to Support School Opening Efforts

School begins in a little over one week!  As the division prepares to receive students, Thursday, August 22nd was designated Support Our Schools day.  From 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. schools and departments participated in staff outings, team building activities and professional development sessions, allowing staff the chance to further engage with each other and to ensure that schools will be fully operational on Tuesday, September 3.  Central Administration staff also visited schools in an effort to provide much needed support at buildings throughout the day.

This day was designed to remind staff that the most important part of every employees’ job in NPS is to support students, whether directly or indirectly.  In addition, the purpose of the day aligns with the division’s Theory of Action which states, Norfolk Public Schools students will develop their individual potential, maximize skills for lifelong learning, and successfully contribute to a global society. All personnel will intentionally facilitate an environment that supports exemplary and innovative teaching and learning opportunities in every school, in every classroom, every day, for every student – no exception.  Check out the Support Our Schools photo gallery below.
