Seven AP teachers receive AP Summer Institute (APSI) scholarshipsfrom The College Board
The College Board awarded seven AP teachers AP Summer Institute (APSI) scholarships to cover the cost of tuition, and in some cases, expenses for a weeklong professional development this summer. Congratulations to the teachers who received scholarships in the following categories:
AP Fellows – For teachers at schools with 50%+ underrepresented minority students and/or 50%+ low-income students; $1,000 toward tuition and expenses. Recipients are Karen Babb (Norview HS) and Andrew Whitfield (Maury HS).
AP New Resources – For teachers planning to teach one of the AP subjects with new resources available in 2019 and at schools serving low-income students; $1,000 toward tuition and expenses. Recipients include Deborah Allen (Norview HS), Thomas Fulcher (Lake Taylor HS), Helen Martin (Maury HS), Kari Miller (Lake Taylor HS), and Luisa Restrepo (Maury HS).
Virginia had 22 teachers out of 2,313 teachers nationally to receive this award. Each year, the College Board offers scholarships to help support schools and school divisions that are committed to building their AP Programs.
