Window opens for schools to begin process of school-level selection for the 2027 Teacher of the Year.

October 29, 2025

Principals must forward the name and photo of their school’s 2027 Teacher of the Year to Cynthia Lynch (clynch@nps.k12.va.us) for placement on the All-City Teaching Team list and media announcement via the NPS website.

November 12, 2025 

All completed City-wide Teacher of the Year applications are to be submitted by the close of the day. Incomplete or late submissions will not be reviewed.

November 17, 2025

The 2027 Teacher of the Year Selection Committee will select the top twelve consisting of the top four finalists at each level, elementary, middle, and high. Principals will be notified of their status and asked to provide their teacher’s schedule.

November 20, 2025

Schedules of the top twelve teachers are due to Cynthia Lynch (clynch@nps.k12.va.us)

December 2-3, 2025

The 2027 Teacher of the Year Selection Committee will conduct classroom observations.

December 3, 2025

The top six candidates will be selected.

December 8, 2025
