My name is Charlotte Blount and I am the Reading Specialist at Azalea Gardens Middle School. I graduated from Norfolk State University in 1992 receiving my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. In 1994, I graduated from Old Dominion University with a master’s degree in Reading Education. I also hold educational endorsements in English as a Second Language and Gifted Education. The 2021-2022 school year will be my twenty-ninth year of teaching and learning. I have taught in two states, North Carolina and Virginia. I believe that every child has potential to learn the next thing beyond what they already know. My main goal this school year is to help all students develop a passion for reading while improving their reading and writing capabilities using a variety of learning platforms.

I enjoy simple pleasures in life such as good conversations, reading a good book, and cooking. I firmly believe that it is my duty to assist others and provide words of encouragement to all. I am looking forward to working with everyone at AGMS.
