Course Information
Elementary: Spanish is offered as a Resource class at Southside STEM Academy at Campostella. All k-5 students receive 45 minutes of Spanish instruction per week.
Middle School-Mandarin Chinese (ADL, AOIS), French, Chinese,Latin (AOIS), Spanish
Middle school students may take an 18-week exploring language course in 6th or 7th grade. Level I is offered starting in 7th grade. Exploratory language is not a prerequisite for Level I. All ADL students are required to take language all three years of middle school as part of the MYP program. Level I and II courses are credit-bearing courses in middle school.
High School: French, Mandarin Chinese (Maury, Granby), Spanish.
Granby HS offers IB courses for students pursuing an International Baccalaureate diploma. Several high schools offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students are required to have World Languages courses for graduation. For a standard diploma, students must have two credits in World Languages. For an advanced studies diploma, students must have three credits in the same World Language OR two credits in one language and two in another.
