Read 14.2

Time spent reading is key to reading achievement and academic success. Research shows children who READ 14.2 minutes a day encounter over 1 million words.

Tips for Reading:

  • Make time to read at least 14.2 minutes every day!
  • Choose different types of books to read Take turns reading with your family and friends.
  • Talk about what you read with your family and friends.
  • Go to the library! It’s FREE!
  • Read anywhere and everywhere!
     
  • Questions to start conversations about books: 
    • What surprised you the most about what you are reading? 
    • If you could be friends with a character in the book who would it be and why? 
    • What was the most exciting part of the book? 
    • What is one thing you would ask the author if you could talk to him or her? 
    • Is there anything in this story that is similar to your life? 
    • How would you change the book’s ending? 
    • What do you think the saddest part of the story was? Why? 
    • If you could give the book another title, what would it be? 
    • Which characters would you like to meet in real life? 
    • Would the book make a cool movie? Video game? TV Show?
