Getting involved with Norfolk Public Schools is a meaningful way to support our students and strengthen our community. There are many ways to donate your time and talents to assist school staff in promoting learning and supporting student achievement, always under the direction of school personnel. The time you give is small compared to the lasting impact you will have on our students—and the impact the experience may have on you.

Volunteering

Norfolk Public Schools welcomes individuals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. By giving your time, you help support learning and student achievement while working under the direction of school staff to ensure a safe and effective environment. The time you share is small compared to the lasting impact you can make—and the meaningful difference it can make in your own life. All NPS volunteers must complete a Raptor Volunteer application before serving in our schools.

PTA
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a powerful partnership between families, schools, and communities working together to support every child’s success. PTA advocates for students, strengthens family engagement, and helps create positive school environments by supporting academic programs, teacher appreciation, student enrichment activities, and school-wide events. Joining the PTA gives parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members a direct voice in decisions that impact children and schools. It is not just about volunteering, it is about building stronger schools, stronger families, and stronger communities. When you join the PTA, you help ensure that every child has the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. Your membership matters, your voice matters, and together, we can make a lasting difference.
