Athletic Events Clear Bag Procedure

Effective October 1, 2026, Norfolk Public Schools will require clear bags for all spectators attending NPS athletic events.

Permitted Bags

The following bags and items are allowed:

  • Clear plastic bags up to 16" x 16" x 8"
  • Clear drawstring bags
  • Small clutch bags up to 5" x 7" x ¾"
  • Diaper bags*
  • Medically necessary or ADA items*

*Diaper bags and medically necessary/ADA items are permitted but are subject to inspection.

Prohibited Bags

The following bags are not allowed:

  • Backpacks, even if clear
  • Non-clear drawstring bags
  • Non-clear tote bags
  • Purses larger than the permitted clutch size
  • Cooler bags, hard- or soft-sided, unless medically necessary
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Duffel bags
  • Laptop and camera bags

Before You Arrive

  • All bags and permitted items are subject to inspection.
  • Prohibited items cannot be held in the stadium. Please return them to your vehicle.
  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted.
  • Spectators are encouraged to leave valuables at home. NPS is not responsible for articles left in vehicles during athletic events.

The safety of our students, staff, and guests remains NPS’s highest priority. This requirement builds upon the division's existing safety measures and aligns with established practices at collegiate and professional athletic venues.
