12 Chesterfield Academy students discuss rising sea levels for the Elizabeth River Project

The Elizabeth River Project hosted a Youth Resilience Strategy Roundtable that included 12 Chesterfield Academy students, Principal Dr. Lawrence Taylor, Dr. Kipp Rogers, NPS Chief Academic Officer, city officials and renowned environmental experts to discuss sea level rising and how to bring awareness and educate students on its effects.

The students are part of The Elizabeth River Project’s pilot program “Youth Leaders for Resilience” and participated in a panel discussion to share ideas on how to combat rising sea levels to create a resilient community.  The common theme among students was to use buckets to collect the rain water to plant trees and restore the shoreline near their school. These innovative thinkers had the opportunity to create sea level rise-themed art that was on display and will be showcased at the Chrysler Museum of Art.
