Report Cards

Kindergarten

Students in Kindergarten classes receive four report cards per year. Students are graded by demonstrating that certain skills are M (mastered), P (progressing), or N (need improvement).

Grades 1-5

Students in grades 1-5 receive four informal progress reports and four letter-grade report cards. Letter grades (A, B, C, D, E) are used in evaluating academic areas, and the grading scale O (outstanding), V (very good), S (satisfactory), N (needs improvement), and U (unsatisfactory) is used to report progress in art, music, physical education, and work-related skills. The progress reports reflect the current status of course work as it is being completed. Teacher's comments provide additional support to increase communications between school personnel and the student's parents/guardians.

Grades 6-8

Students in grades 6-8 receive four informal progress reports and four reports which incorporate the use of traditional letter grades. Grades for credit-bearing courses taught in middle school (i.e. algebra and foreign language) are given at the end of each semester when credit is awarded.

Grades 9-12

Written evaluations of students' work in grades 9-12 are issued eight times a year -- six interim evaluation reports and two letter-grade report cards. Grades are given at the end of the semester. Progress reports are issued to reflect the current status of course work as it is being completed.

Report cards may be withheld until all school property is paid for or returned.
