How to Apply for Free and Reduced Price Meals
Households that are receiving food stamps or VA TANF for the child you are applying for do not have to fill out an application. School officials will notify you of your child's eligibility by Sept. 1.
- If you are not notified by Sept. 1, submit and application at that time.
- If you do not receive food stamps for your child, carefully complete the application and send it to the Food Service Application Office or your child(ren)'s school. The application is a family application and all children's names, the names of all household members, the amount of gross income each person received last month and where it came from, the signature of an adult household member and that adult's social security number must be included.
- Military households report all cash income (entitlements) before deductions. In addition to base pay, include month allowances for off-base housing, food subsistence, clothing maintenance, sea pay, etc. If a military parent is deployed, do not include him or her as a household member and report total monthly entitlements.
- if you are applying for a foster child, who is a legal responsibility of the courts, the application must have the child's name, the child's "personal use" income, and an adult signature.
Applications are available at your child's school or by calling 628-2750.
