In the past, a school accident insurance plan has been offered to all students for a very modest premium. This year, Norfolk Public Schools is taking a new initiative and has purchased a school student accident insurance policy that will cover the entire student population. This program will provide up to $25,000 in coverage, acting as an excess policy for those that have medical insurance and provide first-dollar coverage for those families that have no medical insurance. This policy has no deductible.

In addition, parents/guardians still have the option to purchase insurance with a coverage maximum of $500,000 for the one-time premium of $58. This insurance provides 24-hour accident coverage. This policy also acts as an excess policy and it has no deductible. If interested, parents should enroll students in this plan when school begins or as soon as possible thereafter.

Students participating in interscholastic sports are provided coverage at no cost. Enrollment materials will be sent home the first month of school.
