General School Information - Compensatory Education ProgramsCompensatory Education Programs
Compensatory programs include federal- and state-funded programs and initiatives designed to improve the teaching and learning of children at risk to enable them to meet challenging academic content and performance standards. These research-based programs also focus on professional development needed to improve the quality of instruction, as well as strategies to increase parent/family involvement in the education of their children.
Some of the programs supported by federal and state funds include Title I schoolwide program schools, Camp Young, Title II (training for teachers and principals), Virginia Preschool Initiative, Even Start Family Literacy, parent liaisons, class-size reduction, and English as a Second Language.
